The Dunkermotoren E105A is a 24 Vdc power-on brake rated at 1.7 Nm nominal torque, with a torque range of 1.50–2.50 Nm over the temperature range. A power-on brake applies torque when it is energised and releases when supply is removed, the opposite of the power-off brakes in the Dunkermotoren range. It is specified where braking is a commanded function rather than a fail-safe one, since the axis is free when the machine is unpowered.

The E105A draws 0.34 A at 8.2 W nominal input power, engaging in 20 ms and releasing in 40 ms. It measures 48 mm in diameter by 47 mm long, weighs 0.175 kg, runs with low noise and carries IP 20 protection as supplied. In an IP65 extruded-body installation it is listed with BG65 and BG75 motors, giving an overall length of 60 mm with the BG65 and 58 mm with the BG75. It shares this published-pairing status with only the E605A (paired with the BG75) elsewhere in the power-on range. Connection is by 400 mm leads in UL style 1007 AWG 24, black for GND and red for Vdc.

Power-on brakes are supplied on request. All rated values apply in the run-in condition.

Dunkermotoren E105A electromagnetic holding brake with metallic housing, central bore and mounting pins
Features
  • Power-on operation applies braking torque only when energised: the axis runs free when the machine is unpowered, for commanded rather than fail-safe braking
  • 1.7 Nm nominal braking (1.50–2.50 Nm over temperature), mid-range holding for the axes it commands
  • Engages in 20 ms and releases in 40 ms for prompt commanded braking on demand
  • Low-noise operation for quiet installations
  • Defined integration with BG65 and BG75 motors inside an IP 65 profile housing: a specified pairing, not an adaptation
  • Compact at Ø48 mm and 47 mm long, 0.175 kg, fitting within the motor envelope
  • 400 mm UL style 1007 AWG 24 flying leads (black GND, red Vdc) for direct wiring

FAQs
The E105A applies 1.7 Nm nominal torque with a 1.50–2.50 Nm range over temperature on a 24 Vdc supply, placing it in the middle of the power-on series: E46A at 0.3 Nm, E50A at 0.4 Nm, E105A at 1.7 Nm, E300A at 2.5 Nm and E605A at 4.5 Nm.
A power-on brake applies torque when it is energised and releases when supply is removed. A power-off brake does the reverse: it holds when de-energised, so the axis is caught automatically on power loss or emergency stop. Choose a power-on brake such as the E50A, E105A or E300A where braking is a commanded step in the cycle; choose a power-off brake from the E22R to E600R range where the load must not drift while the machine is unpowered. A power-on brake is not a fail-safe holding brake and should not be specified as one.
In an IP 65 extruded-body installation the E105A is listed with BG65 and BG75 motors, giving an overall length of 60 mm with the BG65 and 58 mm with the BG75. It is one of only two power-on brakes in the range with a published motor pairing, the other being the E605A with the BG75, which makes it a strong choice where a power-on brake has to sit inside a sealed BG motor housing.
It runs on 24 Vdc drawing 0.34 A at 8.2 W nominal input power, engages in 20 ms and releases in 40 ms. All rated values apply in the run-in condition, and the torque range applies over the temperature range.
The E105A measures 48 mm in diameter by 47 mm long and weighs 0.175 kg. It is supplied with 400 mm leads in UL style 1007 AWG 24, black for GND and red for Vdc.
Both are power-on brakes on 24 Vdc. The E105A applies 1.7 Nm at 0.34 A/8.2 W and weighs 0.175 kg; the E300A applies 2.5 Nm at 0.41 A/10 W and weighs 0.35 kg, twice the mass. The E105A engages faster at 20 ms against 17 ms but releases much slower at 40 ms against 8 ms. Choose the E105A where an IP 65 BG65 or BG75 integration is needed; choose the E300A for more torque and a quicker release.
Dunkermotoren supplies the full power-on series (E46A, E50A, E105A, E300A and E605A) on request rather than as standard catalogue items, so lead times differ from the power-off range. Contact sales@powerbox.com.au for current availability before designing one in.
Selection depends on the torque required at the axis, whether the brake must hold on power loss or only when commanded, the motor series it mounts to, and whether an IP 65 profile-housing installation is needed. Send your motor model and duty details to sales@powerbox.com.au and Powerbox will confirm the right brake and mounting arrangement.
