Dunkermotoren E90R Schwach Power-Off Brake

Read MoreThe E90R schwach is the reduced-torque version of the Dunkermotoren E90R power-off brake, rated at 0.5Nm nominal torque with a torque range of 0.25–0.7Nm over the temperature range on a 24Vdc supply. Dunkermotoren lists it as the preferred series for GR53 motors.
Like the rest of the E90R series it is based on spring force, a design that is particularly robust and insensitive to temperature and load changes. It draws 0.31A at 7.5W nominal input power, with a 100ms activation time, a 20ms deactivation time and a mass of 0.45kg — all rated values apply in the run-in condition. Protection class is IP20 as supplied; brakes can be mounted openly or with covers in protection class up to IP65, and in combination with brushless motors they can be integrated into the motor profile housing at IP65.
The E90R platform is also available with manual unlocking and manual release — on the standard E90R, a Ø3.6mm hole in the lever takes a Bowden cable, so the brake can be actuated from the front or from the rear, useful where an operator needs to free a jammed axis without power. Contact Powerbox to confirm availability of the manual release option on the schwach build specifically.

Features
- Spring-force power-off design holds the load whenever the 24Vdc supply is removed — no holding current, and the axis stays put on power loss
- Robust and insensitive to temperature and load changes, so holding torque stays consistent as operating conditions vary
- 0.5Nm nominal holding torque (0.25–0.7Nm over temperature) — the reduced-torque E90R build, sized for lighter axes that a higher-torque brake would over-brake
- Dunkermotoren's preferred brake series for GR 53 motors — a specified pairing, so it's the first choice for a GR 53 build rather than a torque-matching exercise
- Engages in 100ms and releases in 20ms — the brake sets promptly on de-energising and clears quickly when power returns
- IP20 as supplied, or up to IP65 mounted with covers or integrated in a brushless motor's profile housing — one brake suits both open and sealed installations
- Manual unlocking and manual release available on the standard E90R — a lever hole takes a Bowden cable for front or rear actuation, letting a jammed axis be freed with the machine powered down; confirm with Powerbox whether this option extends to the schwach build
