The Dunkermotoren E310R is a spring-force power-off brake that automatically holds an axis in place the moment supply voltage is removed, with no holding current required to maintain the grip. It is built for applications where an emergency stop, power failure or routine shutdown must never allow a load to drift, slip or fall.

As a spring-applied design, the E310R stays insensitive to temperature and load changes, so holding torque remains predictable through thermal cycling and shifting duty. At 3.3 Nm nominal holding torque, it sits toward the top of the power-off series, suited to heavier or higher-inertia axes than the lower-torque E22R, E38R or E90R models.

The E310R integrates with Dunkermotoren BG75 motors, sealing to IP65 inside the motor's profile housing for washdown or dusty environments; mounted openly or under a cover, it reaches up to IP 65 on other compatible motors in the range. Flying-lead wiring gives a direct connection with no adapters required.

It suits vertical axes, gravity-loaded stages and gantries, anywhere a Dunkermotoren drive needs a fail-safe hold on de-energisation. Pair it with a BG75 motor, and a Dunkermotoren gearbox where reduction is needed, to specify a complete holding-brake drive system from a single supplier.

Dunkermotoren E310R electromagnetic motor brake with circular connector and metallic mounting flange
Features
  • Spring-force power-off design holds the load when the 24 Vdc supply is removed — the axis stays put on power loss with no holding current
  • 3.3 Nm nominal holding (3.30–5.40 Nm over temperature) — steps the range up for heavier or higher-inertia axes
  • Insensitive to temperature and load changes, so holding stays predictable through duty cycling and thermal swings
  • Low-noise operation for quiet installations
  • Integrates with BG 75 motors inside an IP 65 profile housing — or mounts open at IP 20, up to IP 65 with covers
  • Balanced 20 ms engage / 65 ms release timing for controlled holding on heavier loads
  • 500 mm AWG 24 flying leads (blue GND, red Vdc) for direct wiring, no adapters or extra tails

FAQs
The E310R is rated at 3.3 Nm nominal torque with a 3.30–5.40 Nm range over temperature on a 24 Vdc supply. It is the second-largest brake in the power-off series, above the E100R at 1.5 Nm and below the E600R at 7 Nm.
A power-off brake holds the load when supply voltage is removed and releases when it is applied, so the axis is held automatically on power loss, emergency stop or shutdown. Specify one wherever a vertical axis, gravity load or positioning stage must not drift while the drive is de-energised — it is a holding brake, not a service brake for decelerating a moving load.
It runs on 24 Vdc drawing 0.53 A at 12.7 W nominal input power, engages in 20 ms and releases in 65 ms. All rated values apply in the run-in condition, and the torque range applies over the temperature range.
In an IP 65 extruded-body installation the E310R is listed with the BG 75 motor, giving an overall length of 58 mm. Mounted openly or with covers it can be fitted to other motors in the range — send your motor model to sales@powerbox.com.au to confirm the arrangement.
The E310R measures 70 mm in diameter by 45.7 mm long and weighs 0.5 kg. It is supplied with 500 mm AWG24 leads, blue for GND and red for Vdc.
No — Dunkermotoren rates the E310R as low noise, as it does the E600R and the E22R. The mid-range brakes in the series carry no noise rating. That matters in laboratory, medical and building-services installations where audible brake operation would be intrusive.
The brake itself is IP 20 as supplied. Brakes can be mounted to the motor openly or with covers in protection class up to IP 65, and in combination with brushless motors they can be integrated into the motor profile housing at IP 65 — so the achievable rating depends on the mounting arrangement rather than on the brake alone.
Selection depends on the holding torque required at the axis, the motor series the brake mounts to, and whether an IP 65 profile-housing installation is needed. Send your motor model and load details to sales@powerbox.com.au and Powerbox will confirm the right brake and mounting arrangement.
