The Dunkermotoren E100R is a 24 Vdc power-off brake rated at 1.5 Nm nominal torque, with a torque range of 0.75–1.70 Nm over the temperature range. It works on the permanent-magnet principle, so the correct supply polarity must be observed at installation. Dunkermotoren supplies the E100R on request.

At 6 ms the E100R has one of the fastest activation times in the power-off range, against a 25 ms deactivation time, worth specifying where an axis has to be held the moment power is lost. It draws 0.38 A at 9 W nominal input power and weighs a modest 0.20 kg for its torque class. Protection class is IP20 as supplied; brakes can be mounted openly or with covers in protection class up to IP65, and in combination with brushless motors they can be integrated into the motor profile housing at IP65.

All rated values apply in the run-in condition.

Dunkermotoren E100R permanent-magnet power-off motor brake with open metallic frame and central hub
Features
  • Permanent-magnet power-off design holds the load when the 24 Vdc supply is removed — no holding current, with connection polarity observed
  • Engages in just 6 ms — among the fastest in the power-off range — catching the load almost the instant power drops
  • Releases in 25 ms for a controlled disengage when power returns
  • 1.5 Nm nominal holding (0.75–1.70 Nm over temperature) from a light 0.20 kg body — strong holding without the mass of a spring-force brake
  • IP 20 as supplied, or up to IP 65 with covers or inside a brushless motor's profile housing — one brake for open or sealed installs

FAQs
The E100R is rated at 1.5 Nm nominal torque with a 0.75–1.70 Nm range over temperature on a 24 Vdc supply, placing it between the E90R at 1 Nm and the E310R at 3.3 Nm.
Two reasons. It engages in 6 ms, one of the fastest in the power-off series and five times quicker than the E90R at 30 ms — worth specifying where an axis must be caught the instant power is lost. It also weighs only 0.20 kg, less than half the 0.45 kg E90R despite holding 50% more torque, which helps where rotating mass or overall machine weight is constrained.
A power-off brake holds the load when supply voltage is removed and releases when it is applied, so the axis is held automatically on power loss, emergency stop or shutdown. Specify one wherever a vertical axis, gravity load or positioning stage must not drift while the drive is de-energised — it is a holding brake, not a service brake for decelerating a moving load.
Yes. The E100R is a permanent-magnet design, as is the E22R, so the correct polarity must be observed. The spring-force brakes in the series — E38R, E90R, E310R and E600R — are not polarity-sensitive.
Dunkermotoren supplies the E100R on request rather than as a standard catalogue item, so lead times differ from the rest of the series. Contact sales@powerbox.com.au for current availability before designing it in.
The E100R weighs 0.20 kg and draws 0.38 A at 9 W on 24 Vdc. Dunkermotoren does not publish diameter, length, lead length or conductor cross-section for the E100R in the brakes catalogue — the length table covers the E22R, E38R, E90R, E310R and E600R only. Request the mechanical drawing through sales@powerbox.com.au before finalising a housing design.
The brake itself is IP 20 as supplied. Brakes can be mounted to the motor openly or with covers in protection class up to IP 65, and in combination with brushless motors they can be integrated into the motor profile housing at IP 65 — so the achievable rating depends on the mounting arrangement rather than on the brake alone.
Selection depends on the holding torque required at the axis, the motor series the brake mounts to, and whether an IP 65 profile-housing installation is needed. Send your motor model and load details to sales@powerbox.com.au and Powerbox will confirm the right brake and mounting arrangement.
