The Dunkermotoren AFS58 is a functional safety encoder certified to SIL 2 and PL d, built for applications where a feedback fault must be detected and handled as part of the machine's safety function rather than by a separate safety device.

It mounts directly to Dunkermotoren's BG brushless DC motor range, adding safety-rated position feedback to the drive without a separate sensor package. An IP 65 housing is available on request for the larger BG frames, so the same encoder moves from a clean cabinet-side installation to a wash-down or dust-laden environment.

Typical use is in automated machinery and motion-control systems that must meet functional-safety requirements — where the drive has to sense a feedback failure and bring the axis to a safe state.
