The Premium CRS-120 Series are industrial-grade PWM DC/DC converters delivering 100–140W of galvanically isolated power conversion. The series covers six nominal input voltages (12, 24, 48, 72, 110 and 220Vdc) and four output voltages (5, 12, 24 and 48Vdc) across 24 models, in a standard Eurocard 3U form factor suited to both chassis and rack-mount installation. CE and UKCA certified.

Three models in the series hold Queensland Rail (QR) Type Approval: CRS-120-6766 (24Vdc in / 12Vdc out, 120W), CRS-120-6770 (48Vdc in / 12Vdc out, 120W) and CRS-120-6771 (48Vdc in / 24Vdc out, 140W). These models are prequalified for use on Queensland Rail rolling stock and infrastructure.

All models operate on a fixed-frequency push-pull topology with galvanic isolation up to 3,000Vac between input and output. Output voltage is field-adjustable from −10% to +15% of nominal (−10% to +25% on 12Vdc output models). Remote sensing compensates for cable voltage drop up to 0.3V per pole. A remote inhibit input (5–24V) allows the converter to be enabled or disabled by an external signal — a feature not present on the CRS-60 Series.

Status LEDs indicate input voltage OK and output voltage presence. Protection covers overload and short-circuit via current limiting, reverse input polarity via input fuse, input undervoltage via undervoltage lockout (55–60% of Vnom), and input over-current via input fuse. On undervoltage recovery the unit restarts automatically.

The series mounts in standard Eurocard racks using the NP-9155 front panel accessory, or on a chassis or DIN rail via the NP-9124 mounting base with optional NP-9135 clip. Redundant two-unit operation is supported via the ACD-15 or ACD-25 accessory. MTBF is rated at 500,000 hours at 40°C per IEC 61709. Manufacturer: Premium S.A. (Spain), ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified.

Features
  • Galvanic isolation up to 3,000Vac between input and output protects downstream electronics from supply-side transients, ground loops, and fault voltages — essential in railway and industrial environments where DC bus disturbances are common.
  • Output voltage is field-adjustable from −10% to +15% of nominal (−10% to +25% on 12Vdc output models), letting system integrators fine-tune delivery to the load without additional regulation components.
  • Remote sensing compensates for resistive cable voltage drop up to 0.3V per pole, ensuring precise voltage at the load regardless of cable length — ideal for distributed loads or long cable runs in rack or chassis installations.
  • A remote inhibit input (5–24Vdc) allows the converter to be enabled or disabled by an external logic signal, enabling integration into system-level power sequencing and controlled shutdown designs.
  • Three models — CRS-120-6766 (24Vdc in / 12Vdc out), CRS-120-6770 (48Vdc in / 12Vdc out) and CRS-120-6771 (48Vdc in / 24Vdc out) — hold Queensland Rail (QR) type approval, making them prequalified for QR rolling stock and infrastructure projects.
  • Rated at 500,000 hours MTBF at 40°C per IEC 61709, with convection cooling, no moving parts, and a standard Eurocard 3U form factor, the CRS-120 Series is built for long-life, maintenance-free operation in rack systems and sealed enclosures.

FAQs
Choose the model whose nominal input voltage matches your DC bus — 12, 24, 48, 72, 110 or 220Vdc — then select the output voltage required by your load: 5, 12, 24 or 48Vdc. Output power ranges from 100W (5Vdc output models) to 140W (24 and 48Vdc output models with 48Vdc or higher input). All 24 models share the same Eurocard 3U form factor and mounting footprint. Contact Powerbox at sales@powerbox.com.au for selection assistance.
Both series are railway-grade push-pull DC/DC converters from Premium S.A. with identical input voltage groups (12–110Vdc) and output voltage options (5/12/24/48Vdc). The key differences are: the CRS-120 delivers roughly double the output power (100–140W vs 50–60W); the CRS-120 adds a 220Vdc nominal input option not available on the CRS-60; the CRS-120 includes a remote inhibit input (5–24Vdc) for external on/off control, absent on the CRS-60; and the CRS-120 carries UKCA marking in addition to CE. Choose the CRS-60 for lower-power or space-constrained designs; choose the CRS-120 where higher power, remote inhibit, or 220Vdc input is required.
Three models in the CRS-120 Series hold Queensland Rail type approval: CRS-120-6766 (24Vdc in / 12Vdc out, 120W), CRS-120-6770 (48Vdc in / 12Vdc out, 120W) and CRS-120-6771 (48Vdc in / 24Vdc out, 140W). These models are prequalified for use on Queensland Rail rolling stock and infrastructure, simplifying procurement and the approval process for QR projects.
The CRS-120 Series complies with EN 60950-1 and EN 62368-1 for safety, EN 61000-6-3 for EMC emissions, and EN 61000-6-2 for EMC immunity. All models carry CE marking (year 2006) under EU Directives 2014/35/EU, 2014/30/EU and 2011/65/EU, and UKCA marking (year 2021) under the equivalent UK regulations — making the series compliant for both EU and UK market deployments. RoHS conformity is declared under 2011/65/EU. Three models additionally hold Queensland Rail type approval. Manufacturer Premium S.A. is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified.
The remote inhibit input allows the converter to be enabled or disabled by an external logic signal in the 5–24Vdc range, applied to the +Inhibit (terminal 14) and −Inhibit (terminal 12) connections. This enables integration into system-level power sequencing, controlled shutdown routines, or safety interlock designs where the DC/DC converter must be switched off independently of the input supply. When the inhibit signal is removed, the converter restarts automatically once the input is within the valid range. This feature is not available on the CRS-60 Series.
Output power is 100W for all 5Vdc output models, 120W for most 12Vdc and all 24Vdc (12Vnom input) and 48Vdc (12 and 24Vnom input) models, and 140W for 24 and 48Vdc output models with 48Vdc or higher input. Efficiency ranges from 78% (CRS-120-6761 and CRS-120-6765, 5Vdc output / 12 and 24Vdc input) up to 89% (CRS-120-6780 and CRS-120-6784, 48Vdc output / 110 and 220Vdc input). As a general rule, higher input voltages and higher output voltages achieve the best efficiency. Full per-model efficiency figures are listed in the product selection table.
The CRS-120 is a standard Eurocard 3U board (100 x 160 x 38.5mm, 430g) with two connection options: a DIN-41612-H15 connector (max 12A per terminal) or spring clamp terminals. It can be chassis mounted using four corner holes, or installed in a standard 19-inch Eurocard rack using the NP-9155 front panel and NP-9124 mounting base accessory. DIN rail mounting is also possible by adding the NP-9135 clip accessory to the NP-9124 base. For redundant two-unit configurations, the ACD-15 or ACD-25 accessory provides ORing diodes and alarm contacts.
Yes, CRS-120 units can be paralleled to increase available output current or to provide N+1 redundancy. When paralleling: set all units to the same output voltage (as close as possible); use equal-length output cables with the same cross-sectional area; and do not use remote sensing. The ACD-15 or ACD-25 accessory provides ORing diodes and alarm contacts for clean two-unit redundant configurations, isolating a failed unit and providing a fault signal. Contact Powerbox at sales@powerbox.com.au for guidance on parallel configurations.
