The Schaefer B1592-28 is a 27.6 Vdc, hot-swappable Eurocassette battery charger module designed for railway signalling and level crossing applications.

Approved for deployment across the Queensland Rail network, it operates within the R1712 6U, 19-inch subrack (supplied separately), which is pre-wired to house up to two modules for increased capacity or redundancy.

As a plug-in module, the B1592-28 allows quick field replacement without disturbing fixed wiring, improving serviceability in trackside environments. The subrack incorporates the system decoupling diodes, reducing thermal stress on the charger module and enhancing long-term reliability.

Built for harsh Australian rail conditions, the B1592-28 features conformal-coated electronics, enhanced mechanical strength, and natural convection cooling for dependable performance in high-temperature equipment rooms. With comprehensive protection features and relay outputs for remote system monitoring, the B1592-28 provides a proven, maintainable power solution for critical signalling infrastructure.
