Read MoreThe Premium EDS-500 Series Battery Charger and DC-UPS is a compact, high-performance 500W solution designed to deliver reliable DC power and battery backup for critical systems. Combining a switched-mode power supply with an intelligent multi-stage battery charger, the EDS-500 ensures continuous operation of connected loads during both normal and mains-failure conditions.
During standard operation, the unit provides a tightly regulated DC output while simultaneously managing battery charging through a controlled three-stage process (bulk, absorption, and float). In the event of a mains interruption, the system transitions seamlessly to battery operation with no voltage interruption, maintaining stable output to sensitive DC loads such as telecommunications equipment, control systems, and industrial automation.
The EDS-500 Series supports a wide AC input range of 110–230Vac and is available in multiple output voltages including 12V, 24V, 48V, and 110V, making it suitable for a broad range of DC infrastructure applications. With configurable charging current via RS-232 and optional communication interfaces such as Ethernet or CAN Bus, the unit can be tailored to meet specific system requirements and integrated into modern monitoring environments.
Designed with operational reliability in mind, the Premium EDS-500 incorporates advanced battery management, including capacity-based battery testing, temperature-compensated charging (with optional sensor), and deep discharge protection to extend battery life and ensure system readiness. Integrated alarm outputs provide real-time indication of key events such as mains failure, battery condition, and system faults, supporting proactive maintenance strategies.
The unit is engineered for demanding industrial environments, offering high efficiency, natural convection cooling, and a wide operating temperature range. For applications requiring enhanced compliance, optional configurations are available for railway environments, including EN50155 and EN45545 standards, making the EDS-500 suitable for rolling stock and trackside installations.
With its combination of compact form factor, configurable performance, and robust protection features, the Premium EDS-500 Series provides a dependable DC power and backup solution for applications where uptime is critical and system integrity cannot be compromised.
Show LessFeatures
- True DC-UPS operation with no output interruption: The EDS-500 supplies the load directly from the power supply during normal mains operation and switches seamlessly to battery operation during an AC failure, helping maintain uninterrupted power to critical DC systems.
- Integrated 3-stage battery charging: Bulk, absorption, and float charging are built into the unit to support controlled battery charging and improved battery care in standby and backup power applications.
- Configurable charging performance and communications: Maximum charging current can be configured through RS-232, while optional Ethernet or CAN Bus connectivity allows the unit to be adapted for different monitoring and system integration requirements.
- Advanced battery management and protection: Features include battery testing by capacity measurement over the load, low battery alarm, battery cut-off against deep discharge, current limiting, and optional temperature-compensated charging.
- Compact industrial design with natural convection cooling: With a compact chassis, high efficiency, wide operating temperature range, and fanless cooling, the EDS-500 is well suited to demanding industrial, telecom, and control environments.
- Optional railway-ready configuration: A railway version is available for applications requiring EN50155-related EMC performance and EN45545 fire and smoke compliance, supporting use in rolling stock and trackside systems.
