The Victron Skylla-i Control GX is a remote panel for Victron Skylla-i battery chargers. It brings charge status, live readings and input current limit control to a convenient location, so operators can monitor and adjust charging without going to the charger itself.

The panel works with all Skylla-i charger models and connects over the VE.Can bus using a standard UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cable with RJ45 connectors. Its two RJ45 sockets are internally connected, so the cable can go to either, and the panel ships with both RJ45 bus terminators needed at the ends of the network. An out-of-the-box installation needs no configuration, and the panel shuts down whenever the charger is switched to standby.

Several Skylla-i Control panels can connect to one charger, or to a set of synchronised, parallel-connected chargers. Where multiple Skylla-i chargers on the same VE.Can network charge separate battery banks, each charger is given its own device instance using an NMEA2000 network tool such as Actisense or Maretron. These multi-device functions require firmware v2.00 or later in both the charger and the panel.

The Skylla-i Control GX forms part of the Victron Skylla-i charging system. Explore the complete Victron Energy range at Powerbox Australia for compatible chargers and system components.

Features
  • Remote Charge Monitoring: Bulk, Absorption, Float/storage and Alarm LEDs mirror the connected Skylla-i charger's charge stage, so system status is visible without going to the charger.
  • Rotary Selector Readout: View charge current, battery voltage, input current and input current limit on the panel's display, shown in amps or volts to one decimal place (whole amps at or above 100A).
  • Adjustable Input Current Limit: Set and confirm the charger's input current limit directly from the panel, for control over shore-power or generator current draw without accessing the charger.
  • Remote On/Off Control: Switch the charger on or off with a short press of the panel's on/off button, subject to the charger's own main power switch.
  • Auto-Dimming LED Display: An ambient light sensor automatically dims the status LEDs in low light, for easier viewing and lower power draw.
  • Multi-Panel, Multi-Charger VE.Can Networking: Two internally connected RJ45 sockets, supplied with both RJ45 bus terminators, link multiple Skylla-i Control panels and Skylla-i chargers on one VE.Can network, with device-instance configuration through NMEA2000 tools such as Actisense or Maretron.
  • On-Panel Fault Diagnostics: Displays the charger's own error codes (e.g. battery voltage faults, temperature and voltage sensor faults, overheating, over-current) directly on the panel for faster troubleshooting.
  • Connection Loss Alert: If the VE.Can link drops, the alarm LED blinks and the display shows NC, while the charger holds its last input current limit until it is power-cycled.

FAQs
The Skylla-i Control GX is a remote panel for Victron Skylla-i battery chargers. It displays charge status on LED indicators, lets you view charge current, battery voltage and input current via a rotary selector, and lets you adjust the charger's input current limit remotely.
It is designed to operate with all Skylla-i charger models.
Via the VE.Can bus, using a standard UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cable with RJ45 connectors. The panel's two RJ45 sockets are internally connected, so the cable can go to either, and the panel ships with both RJ45 bus terminators, which must be in place at each end of the network.
Yes. Multiple Skylla-i Control panels can be connected to one charger, or to a set of synchronised, parallel-connected chargers. No configuration is needed for most installations; only where multiple Skylla-i chargers on the same VE.Can network are charging different battery banks does the device instance need to be changed, using an NMEA2000 network tool such as Actisense or Maretron.
Yes. When the charger reports a fault, the panel's alarm LED lights and the display shows the corresponding error code (for example E2 for battery voltage too high, or E17 for charger overheated), for faster diagnosis.
Yes, with a short press of the on/off button. The charger's own main power switch takes priority: once that switch is off, the panel can no longer turn the charger on.
Yes. An ambient light sensor automatically dims the status LEDs in low light, which is more comfortable to view and reduces power consumption.
The panel's alarm LED blinks and the display shows NC. The charger keeps its input current limit setting, but if it is power-cycled at its main switch while disconnected, it reverts to its default maximum input current. Reconnecting the panel restores the previously selected limit.
Yes. The multi-device and error-code functions described in the manual require firmware v2.00 or later in both the Skylla-i charger and the Skylla-i Control panel.
