Three input ranges are available: 8 to 17Vdc for 12V systems, 16 to 35Vdc for 24V systems, and 32 to 70Vdc for 48V systems. Each input range can be paired with a 12V, 24V or 48V output, adjustable from 10 to 15Vdc, 20 to 30Vdc or 40 to 60Vdc respectively. The same range can step voltage up, step it down, or provide an isolated supply at the same nominal voltage.
Isolation is needed where the input and output must not share a common negative. Typical cases are powering sensitive electronics from a vehicle or vessel battery, or avoiding ground loops and stray currents between two parts of a system. Victron Orion-Tr Isolated converters keep the two circuits electrically separate while regulating the output.
Efficiency reaches up to 89%, and cooling is by natural convection with no fan. Units can be connected in parallel for higher output current, and a remote on/off input allows control from a low-power switch or an engine run/stop signal. Protection covers short circuit, over-temperature and input under-voltage. The chassis-mount enclosure is rated IP43.
Common applications include automotive and fleet vehicles, marine installations, industrial equipment, and off-grid or renewable energy systems built around battery banks.
