The Premium CRS-60 Series are railway-grade PWM DC/DC converters providing 50–60W of isolated power conversion across five nominal input voltages (12, 24, 48, 72 and 110Vdc) and four output voltages (5, 12, 24 and 48Vdc). Designed and certified to EN 50155 for rolling stock applications, the series is built for demanding railway and industrial environments where supply integrity is critical.

Three models in the series have earned Queensland Rail (QR) Type Approval: the CRS-60-6736 (24Vdc in / 12Vdc out), CRS-60-6740 (48Vdc in / 12Vdc out) and CRS-60-6741 (48Vdc in / 24Vdc out). These models are prequalified for use on Queensland Rail infrastructure.

All models feature galvanic isolation up to 3,000Vac between input and output, a push-pull converter topology operating at a fixed switching frequency, and output voltage adjustment via a trimpot (−10% to +15% of nominal; −10% to +25% for 12Vdc output models). Remote sensing compensates for cable voltage drop up to 0.3V per pole, and an output voltage presence LED provides immediate status indication.

The series protects against overloads and short circuits via current limiting, reverse input polarity via an input fuse, and input undervoltage via an undervoltage lockout circuit. Units can be chassis mounted using four fixing holes or DIN rail mounted using the optional NP-9135 clip accessory. For redundancy applications, the ACD-15 accessory provides ORing diode and alarm contact functions for two-unit parallel operation.

MTBF is rated at 650,000 hours at 40°C per IEC 61709. Manufacturer: Premium S.A. (Spain), ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified.

Premium CRS-60 Series DC/DC Converter by Premium S.A.
Features
  • Galvanic isolation up to 3,000Vac between input and output protects sensitive downstream electronics from supply-side transients, ground loops, and fault voltages — a critical requirement in railway and industrial environments where high-voltage disturbances on the DC bus are common.
  • Output voltage is field-adjustable from −10% to +15% of nominal (−10% to +25% on 12Vdc output models), allowing system integrators to fine-tune the output to compensate for cable losses or meet exact load requirements without additional regulation components.
  • Remote sensing terminals compensate for resistive voltage drop across supply cables — up to 0.3V per pole — ensuring precise voltage delivery at the load regardless of cable length or current draw. Ideal for distributed loads where cable runs are significant.
  • Undervoltage lockout prevents operation below the minimum rated input, protecting connected loads from undervoltage conditions and preventing battery deep-discharge in battery-backed systems. Reverse polarity protection via input fuse guards against incorrect wiring during installation.
  • Three models — CRS-60-6736 (24Vdc in / 12Vdc out), CRS-60-6740 (48Vdc in / 12Vdc out) and CRS-60-6741 (48Vdc in / 24Vdc out) — hold Queensland Rail (QR) type approval, making them prequalified for use on QR rolling stock and infrastructure projects.
  • Rated at 650,000 hours MTBF at 40°C per IEC 61709, with convection cooling and no moving parts, the CRS-60 Series is designed for long-life, maintenance-free operation in sealed enclosures and space-constrained applications where forced-air cooling is impractical.

FAQs
The CRS-60 Series is available in five nominal input voltages: 12Vdc (9.5–15Vdc range), 24Vdc (18–30Vdc), 48Vdc (36–60Vdc), 72Vdc (50.4–90Vdc), and 110Vdc (77–144Vdc). Select the model whose nominal input voltage matches your system's DC bus — for example, 24Vdc nominal for a 24V battery-backed rail system. Each input group offers four output voltages (5, 12, 24, or 48Vdc), giving 20 models in total. Contact Powerbox at sales@powerbox.com.au if you need guidance on model selection.
Three models in the CRS-60 Series have earned Queensland Rail type approval: CRS-60-6736 (24Vdc in / 12Vdc out, 60W), CRS-60-6740 (48Vdc in / 12Vdc out, 60W), and CRS-60-6741 (48Vdc in / 24Vdc out, 60W). These models are prequalified for use on Queensland Rail rolling stock and infrastructure, simplifying the procurement and approval process for QR projects.
The CRS-60 Series delivers 50W on all 5Vdc output models and 60W on all 12, 24, and 48Vdc output models. Efficiency ranges from 77% (CRS-60-6731, 12Vdc in / 5Vdc out) up to 85% depending on input and output voltage combination — higher input voltages and higher output voltages generally achieve the best efficiency. Full efficiency figures for all 20 models are listed in the product selection table.
The CRS-60 Series is certified to EN 50155 for railway rolling stock applications, EN 60950-1 and EN 62368-1 for safety, EN 61000-6-3 for EMC emissions, and EN 61000-6-2 for EMC immunity. All models carry CE marking under EU Directives 2014/35/EU (Low Voltage), 2014/30/EU (EMC), and 2011/65/EU (RoHS). Three models (CRS-60-6736, CRS-60-6740, CRS-60-6741) also hold Queensland Rail type approval. The product is manufactured by Premium S.A. (Spain), an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified company.
Remote sensing compensates for resistive voltage drop along supply cables by connecting the +Sense and −Sense terminals (terminals 32 and 18) directly at the load rather than at the converter output. The CRS-60 can compensate for up to 0.3V per pole of cable drop, ensuring the load receives the correct regulated voltage regardless of cable length or current draw. Remote sensing is recommended for precision loads or long cable runs; if not required, the sense terminals can be left disconnected. Note: if sense terminals are connected to the load but the output cable connection to that load is missing, the internal protection fuse may activate — always ensure both output and sense connections are made together.
The CRS-60 Series includes four built-in protection functions: current limiting for overload and short-circuit protection; an input fuse for reverse polarity protection (blows on incorrect connection); undervoltage lock-out that disables the converter below the minimum input threshold, preventing battery deep-discharge; and an input fuse for over-current protection. All protections are automatic — no manual reset is required after the fault condition is removed.
The CRS-60 can be chassis mounted using four M4 fixing holes on the unit body, or DIN rail mounted using the optional NP-9135 clip accessory (ordered separately). The unit measures 127 × 84.5 × 40mm and weighs approximately 500g. Connection is via spring clamp terminal strips. For vertical mounting, natural convection provides sufficient cooling; if operating close to maximum output power, ensure adequate airflow around the unit.
Yes, CRS-60 units can be operated in parallel to increase available output current or to provide N+1 redundancy. When paralleling, set all units to the same output voltage (as close as possible), use equal-length output cables with the same cross-section, and do not use remote sensing. The optional ACD-15 accessory provides ORing diodes and alarm contacts for two-unit redundant configurations, cleanly isolating a failed unit and providing a fault signal. Contact Powerbox at sales@powerbox.com.au for guidance on parallel configurations.
