Harvest More Energy From Every Hour of Sunlight

Most solar charge controllers leave energy on the table. Partial shading, shifting cloud cover, and temperature swings across the day all cause standard controllers to miss the true power point of your array — meaning watts that could be filling your batteries are simply lost.

The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 and 100/50 are built differently. Their ultra-fast MPPT tracking algorithm continuously monitors PV voltage and current, adjusting in real time to stay locked onto the optimum operating point even as conditions change. The result is measurably more energy harvested per day — particularly in the variable-light environments common across Australian installations.

Both models support up to 100V from the photovoltaic array and convert it to battery charge voltage at efficiencies close to 98%, minimising heat loss and maximising what actually reaches your battery bank.

Built-In Bluetooth — Monitor From Your Phone, No Extra Hardware

Unlike controllers that require a separate Bluetooth dongle, the SmartSolar 100/30 and 100/50 have Bluetooth Smart built in. Pair with the free VictronConnect app on iOS or Android to view real-time charge current, battery voltage, PV array power, and historical yield data directly from your smartphone.

This is practical at commissioning, and useful for ongoing health checks in installations where the controller is not easily accessible — roof-mounted systems, vehicle builds, marine cabinets, or remote sites.

Designed for Australian Conditions

With an operating range of -30°C to +60°C and full rated output to 40°C, the SmartSolar handles the temperature extremes common in Australian outback, alpine, and tropical environments. IP43-rated electronics and PD3 pollution degree rating make it suitable for indoor unconditioned environments up to 5,000m altitude.

100/30 or 100/50 — Choosing the Right Model

Both controllers share the same 100V maximum PV input and identical feature set. The choice comes down to your array size and daily charge requirements.

The MPPT 100/30 handles 30A charge current — suitable for arrays up to 440W at 12V or 880W at 24V. The right choice for small-to-medium battery banks and space-constrained installations.

The MPPT 100/50 handles 50A charge current — suitable for arrays up to 700W at 12V or 1,400W at 24V. Better suited to larger battery banks, higher daily energy demands, or systems with room to scale.

Part of a Larger Victron System

The VE.Direct port on both models enables integration with the broader Victron ecosystem, including the Color Control GX, Cerbo GX, and Venus GX for centralised monitoring. Connected to the internet, Victron Remote Management (VRM) provides free access to system data from anywhere.

For larger arrays or higher voltage systems, the SmartSolar MPPT 150 and 250 VE.Can series are available through Powerbox. Victron Energy has been designing power conversion products since 1975 — explore the full range on the Victron Energy brand page.

FAQs
Both models accept a maximum PV open circuit voltage of 100V and support 12V or 24Vdc battery systems with auto-select. The MPPT 100/30 delivers a maximum charge current of 30A and supports nominal PV arrays of up to 440W at 12V or 880W at 24V. The MPPT 100/50 steps up to 50A and supports up to 700W at 12V or 1400W at 24V. Choose the 100/30 for small-to-medium systems; choose the 100/50 where a larger PV array is installed or planned, or where you need higher charge rates to reduce battery recovery time.
Both the MPPT 100/30 and 100/50 accept a maximum PV open circuit voltage of 100V, support 12/24Vdc auto-select battery systems, and achieve up to 98% maximum conversion efficiency. Absorption voltage defaults to 14.4V/28.8V and float to 13.8V/27.6V, both adjustable. Self-consumption is 30mA at 12V and 20mA at 24V. Both models support multi-stage adaptive charging and operate from –30°C to +60°C (full rated output to 40°C).
The SmartSolar 100/30 and 100/50 use a multi-stage adaptive charge algorithm compatible with a wide range of lead-acid battery types including sealed, gel, and AGM. Absorption and float voltages are fully adjustable to match specific battery manufacturer requirements.
