The Schaefer B1591-30 is a 13.8Vdc, 600W battery charger engineered for railway signalling and level crossing applications, with Queensland Rail Type Approval C0192 confirming its suitability across both Queensland Rail and Aurizon networks.

Built for reliability in harsh environments, it features conformal-coated electronics and a reinforced chassis to resist humidity, vibration, and contamination within the rail corridor. The charger utilises natural convection cooling for silent, maintenance-free operation and dependable performance at temperatures up to +75 °C.

It supports parallel and redundant configurations, combining built-in decoupling diodes with active current sharing to maintain balanced load distribution and enhance system resilience. With comprehensive protection, including overvoltage, short-circuit, and reverse-polarity safeguards, plus DC OK and Converter Fail relay outputs for remote monitoring, the B1591-30 ensures long-term stability and safety for critical rail signalling infrastructure.
