150W  45-154Vdc Input Converter for Railway Rolling Stock

PB271 Series  is a 150W converter range designed for railway applications.  They operate from a 45-154Vdc input and supplies 24Vdc/6.25A, 12Vdc/12.5A, 27.6Vdc/5.45A or 13.8Vdc/10.9A. They  are designed to operate under electrical service conditions as defined by EN50155:1996 for a 72Vdc, 96Vdc and 110Vdc nominal supply from an accumulator battery. They are designed to comply with emissions and immunity requirements for equipment with Battery Referenced Ports per EN50121-3-2:2000.

High resistance to vibrations and environmental impacts.   The unit is potted with a thermally conductive MIL-spec. silicon rubber to increase resistance against humidity, moisture, shock and vibration

Input polarity reversal protection.   The protection prevents damage to the unit if input polarity is reversed and enables normal operation as soon as input voltage is properly connected

Input overvoltage lockout.   The DC/DC converter will shut down if input voltage exceeds the permitted maximum value.

Output overload protection.   The DC/DC converter maintains constant output voltage up to the set current limit. After the current limit is exceeded the converter switches to constant output current mode.

Output short circuit protection.   As an extension to the output overload protection the DC/DC converter maintains constant and defined short circuit current indefinitely

Output overvoltage protection.   If output overvoltage is detected the DC/DC converter shuts down. Input power should be cycled to reset the protection

Overtemperature protection.   The DC/DC converter shuts down when its internal temperature exceeds 110°C. The overtemperature protection resets after cooling down.

Redundant operation: (Option – CS)   For redundant operation, a diode is added in series with the positive output and the output load regulation is degenerated to facilitate passive current sharing. This option is only available with 24Vdc output voltage

ON” LED: (Option – L)   A green LED which is ON when output voltage is present, is added to the front panel.

Compact design.   PB271 is offered in two mechanical variants, with and without optional heatsinks. Both variants share the same chassis mount enclosure with overall dimensions 80×290×51mm (W×L×H). The variant with optional heatsinks is 50mm wider, with overall dimensions 130×290×51mm (W×L×H).

Four different styles of input/output terminals.   The unit can be fitted with either screw terminals (-S), cage clamp terminals (-C), pluggable screw terminals (-P), or a circular MIL connector (-M). The circular MIL connector is only available with 24Vdc output voltage.
