The Brief:
Located: Sydney Northern suburbs, NSW
Business Development Manager – Create Solutions That Power Progress
Reporting to the General Manager | Sales, the BDM is responsible for delivering DC power system solutions across sectors including telecommunications, power conversion, and energy storage. The role works at the intersection of customer engagement, technical design, and commercial delivery, ensuring solutions meet operational needs and business objectives.
Core activities include:
- Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve sales targets, drive growth, and expand our market presence in the Industrial and Telecom sectors.
- Engaging with customers to understand operational requirements and constraints.
- Providing technical support throughout the sales cycle, from pre-sales engagement to post-installation follow-up.
- Coordinating with internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of DC power technologies, market trends, and customer applications to enhance solution design
The position operates within a collaborative team environment, with an emphasis on problem-solving, commercial awareness, and clear communication. Success is measured by the ability to deliver solutions that perform as intended, support business objectives, and strengthen long-term customer relationships.
Responsibilities include:
- Key Account Management; enhancing client satisfaction, retention, and profitability while achieving organisational goals and objectives.
- Provide technical support and engineered solutions in the field of DC Power Systems & Solutions.
- Contribute to the development of sales strategies and marketing initiatives tailored to DC Power Systems.
- Submit regular reports to management, and via CRM, detailing business development activities, progress, and outcomes
- Play a hands-on role in developing the opportunity pipeline and associated win rate.
- Managing business relationships with both local and regional stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the broader Powerbox team in planning and implementing specific projects as requested.
Your Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Engineering qualification or trade experience background is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years’ expertise in business development, sales, or a comparable role within the electrical industry.
- Strong negotiation & sales experience with a successful track record of delivering results.
- Ability to develop and clearly articulate customer activity plans.
- Comprehensive knowledge of DC power solutions within Industrial & Telecom sectors.
- Knowledge of Microsoft products (Outlook, Word and Excel) and Design software (CAD, SOLIDWORKS) highly regarded.
- Exceptional communicator with strong problem-solving skills.
- Highly motivated with a drive to succeed.
- Effective time management & organisational skills

Position Description
We are seeking a DC Power Design and Application Engineer to join our Sydney team. This role will focus on designing, configuring and supporting DC power systems across our core markets, including rail and transportation, telecommunications, electronic security and utilities. You will work closely with customers and our global technology partners to deliver engineered solutions, provide technical expertise, and support projects from concept through to deployment.
Reporting to the General Manager | Sales, this role combines engineering design, technical support, and customer engagement, giving you the opportunity to deliver innovative and reliable power solutions that make a real impact
The Brief
- System Design: Configure DC power systems for mains-powered and solar hybrid applications (24 Vdc, 48 Vdc, 110 Vdc, 220 Vdc, and AC integration).
- Application Engineering: Specify system architecture & integrate rectifiers, inverters, controllers, batteries, and cooling systems to meet customer requirements.
- Documentation: Prepare BOMs, schematics, single-line diagrams, and build packages for relevant stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work closely with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to deliver solutions that are fit-for-purpose and compliant with Australian standards.
- Customer Support: Provide technical advice during proposals, tenders, commissioning, and aftermarket service.
- Testing & Commissioning: Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), develop test procedures, and support site deployments.
As a DC Power Design & Applications Engineer, you’ll help shape solutions that make a real impact across critical industries. By combining creativity, technical know-how, and problem-solving, you’ll deliver systems that not only perform as intended but also drive business success and add lasting value for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Supporting sales with technical input for tenders, proposals, and cost estimations.
- Participating in customer meetings to clarify requirements and validate solutions.
- Ensuring designs comply with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Acting as a technical point of contact during project delivery and aftermarket service.
- Coordinating with internal teams to ensure on-time and accurate project execution.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical / Electronic) or trade equivalent.
- 3+ years’ experience in DC power system design, configuration, or applications engineering.
- Experience working with modular rectifier platforms (Eltek preferred) and site controllers, including setup, configuration, and performance optimisation.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (for schematics and GA drawings).
- Experience in Telecommunications, Rail, or Utilities environments.
- Strong communicator with proven problem-solving skills.
- Highly motivated, with strong time-management and organisational ability.

About Us
Powerbox Australia is a leading supplier of reliable power conversion, energy storage, power generation, motion & drive solutions across a wide range of industries, including security, railway & transport, telecommunications and defence to name a few. As we continue to expand our reach and offering, we are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Marketing Coordinator to support our growing marketing efforts across both digital and traditional channels.
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Marketing Coordinator to support the day-to-day execution of digital campaigns, content creation, website updates, graphic design and event coordination. You'll work directly under our Digital Marketing Manager and gain exposure to a wide variety of marketing tasks, from uploading new products in Shopify to helping coordinate major trade shows. With a strong focus on digital execution, the role also includes traditional marketing elements, providing a well-rounded opportunity to grow your skills across both channels.
We are open to both part-time (3 days/week) or full time applicants and are looking for someone who can grow with us over time.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Marketing & Website Support
- Uploading new products and updating existing listings in Shopify
- Updating website content pages and uploading blog articles
- Preparing assets for promotional banners, landing pages, and eCommerce campaigns
Social Media Support
- Assisting with content creation and asset development for social media calendars
- Writing and scheduling social media posts across LinkedIn, Facebook, and X
- Supporting the roll-out of paid social campaigns (with direction)
Email Marketing
- Preparing content and assets for eDMs
- Creating email workflows and segmentation
- Scheduling and sending email campaigns to industry-specific lists
Traditional Marketing & Event Support
- Assisting with trade show logistics and coordination
- Preparing and updating collateral such as brochures, flyers, datasheets, and POS materials
- Coordinating print suppliers and artwork approvals
General Artwork & Asset Creation
- Designing assets for paid ads and digital campaigns
- Creating internal or external print materials (business cards, signage, product sheets)
- Maintaining brand consistency across all touchpoints
What We’re Looking For
- Marketing experience, ideally in a B2B or technical product-based environment
- Hands-on approach
- Qualifications in Marketing (completed or in progress)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow project briefs accurately
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under direction
- Experience across both digital and traditional marketing is highly regarded – While the role leans toward digital execution, exposure to traditional channels (e.g. event coordination, print collateral) is an advantage. You don’t need to be an expert in both, however, having a working understanding of each will set you up for success.
