Valere Power with Powerbox Australia have announced the Line Power Solutions Family
A complete telecommunications power system from extending battery backed-up power from a centralised source to remote cabinet locations for "triple-play" voice, video and data service offerings or wireless access points.
Line power systems send power from a central office (CO), where batteries or generators provide backup in the event of a power outage, across unused copper telephone lines to a remote fibre-optic or wireless network cabinet where space limitations and maintenance costs make it hard to locate power equipment and batteries. These systems reduce deployment costs by reusing existing network cabling and by removing the need for AC utility service and batteries in each remote node.
Unique Scalability
Valere's Line Power Solutions family includes both head-end source and far end conversion products. They are unique in the industry for their ability to scale from two to 40 inputs in a shelf to more than 400 inputs in a rack. Thus, they are cost effective for small optical network unit (ONU) installations that need only 50 watts all the way to dozens of large fibre-to-the-node (FTTN) cabinets needing thousands of watts.
Valere's line-power solution is composed of a Head End Converter for use at the CO or remote terminals and a Far End Converter for remote locations. Both products are based on patented Valere technology that offers greater than 90% power conversion efficiency, reducing the thermal load on outside-plant enclosures and at the same time decreasing the amount of incoming energy needed.
The Head End Converter is a 2RU-high power shelf that can provide protected DC Power for up to 40 Remote nodes. Multiple shelves may be combined for larger installations. The Head End Converter power output can ber configured for either -190 VDC, +/- 190 VDC, or +/-130 VDC networks. It also has been designed to work in temperatures ranging from -40 to +75C, giving it the hardening needed for the extreme temperature conditions of a remote terminal.
It also comes with options for network monitoring via simple contact closures or full TCP/IP monitoring over SNMP. It can also be monitored via standard Valere controllers and seamlessly integrated with the Compacty, Integrated, or Modular system during customer deployment.
The converter modules are hot swappable and the system can span from 50 watts to 1000 watts of output power in the same compact package.
The Power Line Solutions complements Valere's full time of AC-DC products which provide a solution for remote terminals that perfer to locate the power equipment in the cabinet. Valere offers the Mini DC Power System, the Compact DC Power System and the Integrate DC Power System for remote terminal use, all of which are based on Valere's high-efficiency power conversion technology.
